Carved Wooden Animal Pendants

As usual I was pinning like a madwoman on Pinterest and I came across this pin of a DIY post inspired by an Anthropologie Party Animal necklace. The post is at Flamingo Toes, created by Beverley McCullough if you're interested in doing the DIY. I loved this idea and decided to make my own version.

So what did I have on hand?

I had this vintage necklace from South Africa. I loved the animals but was never quite sure about what I would do with them. I knew the original necklace, although cool was too bulky. Also I think the carved wood is a bit more bohemian and sophisticated than the plastic of the original.

I released the animals from the original necklace and saved the other beads for other projects. I wanted to keep the kitschy fun that makes the other versions enjoyable, so I scoured my drawers for bright colored beads. I found glass beads, dyed agate, coral, rose quartz and other gems. I used my basic pendant technique (demo coming soon) and created some fun animal pendants.

I made a whole zoo! Or a taxidermy shop. Any who... I had fun making these. You can buy these on this website or my Etsy shop.
